Guinness

At the start of the year I was approached by Blinkart to be part of an interesting project for Guinness. The project involved collaborating with a number of talented illustrators, carvers and art directors. here is what Blink say about it. Blinkart was commissioned by Saatchi and Saatchi to create a physical piece to celebrate the history of Guinness from 1759 to the present day, as well as making an accompanying film to launch their new brand strategy “Made Of More”. In response we built a twelve foot, two ton sculptured plinth which depicts the story of Guinness in the round, conceived and designed by David Wilson. David Wilson selected illustrators Robert Hunter, Bradley Jay, Micah Lidberg, and design studio Village Green to each draw a section of the story which would then be hand carved into the solid sculpture, marrying their individual different styles and creating a rich texture and depth to the monument.

Curious Minds

The limited edition book "Curious Minds" has been released. I took part in this project by illustrating a description of an inspiring teacher written by Kevin McCloud. Curious Minds is one of ten ‘bridge’ organisations across the country, recently appointed by Arts Council England. The charity works in schools and other settings in the North West to make sure all children have access to quality arts and cultural learning activities. The book Young Colossus is written by Orlando Weeks, produced by Nic Nell, additional vocals by Alessi Laurent-Marke (Alessi's Ark) and released on Fiction records. you can buy it here. www.youngcolossus.com

At the beginning of this year I worked on a project where my drawings have been translated into 3d objects. These characters where sculpted from my drawings by the very talented Alex Simpson. These characters are just one element of the project, so there is more to come.

Picador 40th Anniversary

Over the summer I was asked to design some of the covers for Picador's 40th anniversary series. The Brief was that every cover was to be designed only in solid black and white. Certain areas of the cover are printed in black ink and other areas are a glossy black foil. The process of the foil slightly de-bossing the paper and creating reflective area's creates shifts in tone and texture on the finished book.
Personally I was hoping for a classic typeface to run throughout the series to tie it all together, but this wasn't the case and I feel that some suffer from this like the cover for "Dirt Music".

ASOS T-shirt

I designed a T-shirt for ASOS in collaboration with its nice that. here is what Its nice that say about the project:

Music and graphic design/illustration have a long and illustrious history together, and our latest collaboration with ASOS, unveiled today, is a celebration of that relationship. We chose five super-talented designers who also make their own music and commissioned them to create an exclusive limited-edition T-shirt, which will be sold with one of their records, bearing the same design. And what a list it is…

We were thrilled to get Jim Stoten, Robert Hunter, Supermundane (aka Rob Lowe), Tim Moore and Chris Pell on board for this project and are absolutely delighted with the work they have produced.
